i now spend three of my afternoons with young children, wednesdays and fridays i work at an after school care and mondays i volunteer at a daycare. they do 0 - 5 years old. the 0-1's are in the toddler room, the 1-3's are in the little kid room, the rest are in the 'pre-school'. they asked me where i wanted to work and i chose 1-3 because the little ones wouldn't be as fun to play with and they poop a lot. the pre schoolers probably have begun to get an attitude so 1-3 is perfect. the most adorable kids i've ever met, and apparently it was a very un-busy day since a lot of them are sick. things that kids say are somewhat adorable on so many levels, here's some;

Me: Ooh, what are you drawing? Is that a horse?
[three]J: no
Me: Is it a dog?
J: No, it's a dinosaur
Me: ...wow that's a great dinosaur! Looks just like real!

Me: Now what are you drawing?
J: I'm drawing the Sun.
Me: Oh yeah those are pretty important.
J: *frantic eyes* yeah! yeah! if the sun wasn't there we'd all be dead!

Me: What are you making? Is that a robot?[ yes this really is one of the only ways you can talk to kids ]
[yeartwo]A: No, i'm making up a Kevin Rudd monster *holds up lego monstrosity* Rah rah rah i'm destroying your country! rah rah rahhhh!
[apparently kids are into politics]

*i and me shooting hoops with a soccer ball - his comes back and hits him on the head*
Me: ooh you ok?
I: *laughing* yeah i like it! i'm used to it. i get hit in the head with lots of balls all the time.

*later - i trips on the grass - starts laughing again*
Me: why are you laughing? are you alright?
I: heehee, i like accidents!
Me: That's a bit sad..
I: *laughing* it's better than not doing anything.

[ i forgot what lead me to asking this, i was just kidding though - grace was there ]
Me: so are you saying that i'm fat?!
H: yeah. i mean no!
Me: *severely saddened*

Me: *trying to sort out a dispute* can't you let Z play in the home corner with you ?
L: noooo.
Me: Well why not?
L: because she... she's too tall..

[ when i first started at the after school care ]
B: are you a teacher
Me: to you, yes.
B: how come you're not old and wrinkly?
A: no she's older than mrs king cause she's taller.
B: oh, why aren't you wrinkly?

yeah, i'm sure there are heaps more, but a lot wouldn't sound as funny as they are if you're there. also, after five minute sof reaching the daycare, i found a child lying in a bag shelf. the stubborn poop wouldn't com eout so i had to drag him out by the legs. and one kid likes to pretend he's asleep all the time. looks like a stoner. also one little girl, must be about one carries a baby dool around with her evvvverywhere and feeds it and put it to sleep and kisses it goodnight and changes it's 'diapers' but when i asked her what it's name was she looked at me lik ei was crazy and ran away laughing.
